Jerry Cherry is an atypical New York artist who places Bowie, the Verve, the White Stripes, AC/DC, and Radiohead as a few of his influences. Based on his background and musical inspirations, Jerry Cherry has developed a signature sound that appeals to a charismatic, upbeat, and eager audience.
Jerry was born in Brooklyn then moved to Florida at a young age, picking up the guitar shortly after. After moving back to New York in 2004, Jerry found the inspiration necessary for his first album, "Life is Sweeter..." Jerry has also played the lead guitar in the band Chubby Checker.
Although Jerry counts the city of New York as his greatest muse, he credits songwriting as a very personal expression and an intense therapeutic outlet. All of the songs on "Life is Sweeter..." were based on a year of experience in love and living in the city. New York has welcomed Jerry, as well. He has performed in well-known venues such as The Knitting Factory, Arlene's Grocery, The National Underground, and the Rockwood Music Hall, to name a few. He has also had the pleasure of opening for bands such as Buckcherry and Better than Ezra. Jerry's future is a promising one, more than only one city can handle.
