With a dynamic and fresh new sound, Lucas Kane fuses a laid-back Australian style with catchy, hook-driven grooves to become one of the most exciting Australian exports to hit the United States shores in decades.
Growing up in a small town outside Melbourne, Lucas spent his teenage years listening to his idol Jewel, giving him inspiration to teach himself to play the guitar. With that skill, Lucas developed into a talented singer/songwriter, playing in local, small-town bars and recording original tracks in his home studio.
Lucas has come a along way since these humble beginnings, playing shows across Australia, performing in musicals throughout Asia and even performing in the hit musical, ‘Wicked’ in Osaka, Japan. During this time, Lucas self produced his debut EP, 'Stars and Blue' with a non English-speaking band, which he says, “…was one of the most amazing experiences to go through, having only humming and gestures to communicate.”
With a debut EP in hand, Lucas exposed crowds across Japan and Australia to his unique sound, collaborated with a Sony BMG Australia producer and performed an acoustic set at radio station, NOVA FM.
Now calling New York City home, Lucas Kane has created a loyal fan base following his East Coast shows, and is creating a stir with his debut EP, 'Stars and Blue'.
STARS AND BLUE CD REVIEW:The humble and dedicated Lucas Kane has released his debut EP, "Stars N Blue," that is fixed with a soulful folk sound and emotions that fly high. The strength of his voice, laid-back guitar riffs and relatable lyrics are a great combination for success. One song that seems to have come out of left field just so happens to be his strongest track; "Tomorrow" has a catchy bohemian groove and is completely reminiscent of Matt Nathanson's "Come on Get Higher." The rest of the songs on this five track EP are truly expressive of what a talented singer/song writer Kane is. Most of the EP, especially "Careless Landslide," screams heartbreak and raw emotion; it seems like Kane has come to reinvent Jewel for today's sad soul. This captivating artist embraces his pain and delivers promising a melodramatic treat.
